Job Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Planning and Sustainability department at DeKalb County as a Special Projects Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and organizing special projects, developing programs for the department, and leading strategic planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform administrative functions such as payroll, personnel, benefits, P-Card, and Oracle.
  • Provide technical and administrative assistance to employees.
  • Develop effective and efficient operating procedures and workflow management.
  • Educate employees on various functions, requirements, deadlines, and changes as required by senior management.
  • Provide information and referrals to citizens who walk or call needing immediate assistance.
  • Plan and organize special projects, develop programs for the department, and lead strategic planning initiatives.
  • Establish relationships with the business community, citizens, and other local agencies to connect existing resources and streamline the delivery of direct and indirect services.
  • Research specific community problems that impede human development and create initiatives to address them.
  • Coordinate and attend community meetings and workshops.
  • Develop and manage community partnerships with non-profits, community leaders, and faith-based organizations.
  • Maintain the department website to ensure all information is accurate and updated for public information.
  • Monitor distribution of projects to engineer review officers, prioritize projects, troubleshoot project problems, design operational procedures/processes for the unit, and serve as an interdepartmental liaison.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Public Administration or a related field.
  • Three years of experience in project management or public administration.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license.
