Job Summary:

The IT Project Manager will plan, organize, and manage assigned information technology projects. This includes developing project plans, conducting assessments with end users, identifying and managing critical path tasks, and performing change control and other associated project management efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops information technology project plans and conducts assessments with end users to determine user needs and system requirements.
  • Identifies and manages critical path tasks, sets and meets interim project goals, and sets and manages project contingency.
  • Performs change control and other associated project management efforts to ensure project schedule and budget are met.
  • Manages projects during design and implementation phases, attends regular project progress meetings, and works with vendors to resolve problems and initiate solutions.
  • Prepares, reviews, and processes change orders, monitors adherence to project schedules, conducts and reviews testing, and provides technical support during programming and implementation.
  • Coordinates process for bidding and contracting of services for various project components or other technical services, prepares Requests For Proposal (RFP) and Requests for Quote (RFQ) for services, and prepares technical specifications and requirements.
  • Participates in negotiations of scope of services and fees for professional services agreements, makes recommendations regarding selection of vendors and awarding of contracts, and monitors vendor performance and contract fulfillment.
  • Administers budgets of assigned projects, coordinates with assigned department in planning and cost estimating, prepares cost estimates for budget planning, and monitors and controls expenditures for approved projects.
  • Assists with the development of policies and procedures and staff of the department, makes recommendations regarding standards, processes, website and templates, trains or mentors others in Project Management, answers questions, teaches classes, and analyzes and audits project or vendor proposals.
  • Maintains an awareness of new applications, technologies, technical methods, trends, and advances in the profession, reviews professional publications, technical manuals, and websites to increase knowledge of network operations, and attends conferences, workshops, and training sessions as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field required.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in system, data, or network administration, systems or software engineering, or information technology management in a centralized information technology and multi-platform environment, to include lead or supervisory experience.
  • May require valid Georgia driver's license; possession and maintenance of Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, Information Technology Infrastructure Library certification, and Six Sigma certification may be preferred.
