Job Summary
A Medical Billing Specialist is needed to join our Central Billing Office in Linthicum Heights, MD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for billing, receivables auditing, and collections activities for services provided to patients in the facilities assigned. You will work closely with facility staff to resolve outstanding issues and participate in monthly A/R reviews.

Responsibilities include:
- Verifying receipt of monthly triple check forms and auditing for accuracy per triple check policy prior to claims submission
- Reviewing Medicare A, Medicare A No Pays/Benefit Exhaust, Medicare B, and Medicare Secondary Payer claims for accuracy and timely submission per Medicare, Commercial, and Medicaid billing guidelines
- Submitting Medicare Advantage Copy claims and secondary claims that do not automatically crossover to secondary insurance
- Daily cash posting of Medicare and Secondary payments per Cash Postings policy
- Following up on unpaid claims and documenting account within standard billing cycle time frame (Medicare: 16 days after submission, Commercial/Medicaid Coinsurance: 14-21 days after submission)
- Monitoring for and reporting Medicare additional development requests (ADR's) per process guidelines
- Identifying and submitting necessary rebilling for secondary/tertiary claims during follow-up

The ideal candidate will have strong verbal and written skills, computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and knowledge of Medicare & Secondary Billing Guidelines, claims appeal/resolution expertise preferred. They should also possess a strong understanding of patient records, medical terminology, and coding systems. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and advanced education beyond high school or comparable work experience is a plus.
