Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Highway Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Texas Department of Transportation. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for performing routine transportation operations and maintenance support work, including roadway maintenance and repair, light and heavy equipment operation, and traffic control.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in identifying, repairing, and installing signs, delineators, mailbox supports, and posts
  • Perform basic welding as needed
  • Operate light equipment such as front-end loaders, pneumatic rollers, and rotary brooms
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), routine servicing, and minor repairs on equipment
  • Assist with traffic control, including placing and gathering cones, warning signs, and barricades
  • Inspect barricades to ensure compliance with barricade standards
  • Maintain highways and rights-of-way, including performing roadway repairs and erecting and repairing guard rails, highway markers, and signs
  • Assist with inspecting maintenance contract construction methods and workmanship
Requirements
