At Commonwealth Pain and Spine, we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in our St. Matthews clinic. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our providers and patients to ensure effective and efficient operations of the clinic.

The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and the ability to quickly and accurately type notes into our EMR software. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential patient records, assisting in assessing patients' pain levels, and performing triage tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and update patient medical history
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
  • Assist in assessing patients' pain levels and documenting relevant information
  • Perform triage tasks, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight, and height
  • Instruct patients on post-procedure care and follow-up appointments
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care
  • Communicate effectively within the healthcare team
  • Coordinate blood thinner medicines for procedures with cardiologists
  • Coordinate post-op pain medicines with patients' surgeons
  • Enter and scan all pertinent patient information and notes in EMR software
  • Prepare evaluation rooms and procedure rooms for patient encounters
  • Clean evaluation rooms and procedure rooms post-patient encounters
  • Perform patient drug screening
  • Prepare patients for pain procedures
  • Assist providers with pain procedures
  • All other duties assigned, including duties performed for affiliates, assigns, lessees, contractors, or other third parties

Requirements:

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to quickly and accurately type notes into EMR software
  • Strong computer and phone skills
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with staff, coworkers, and patients
  • Navigates multiple, simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional, courteous manner
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare regulatory and compliance policies (e.g., HIPAA)
  • High integrity, including maintenance of confidential information
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and positively influence others, including handling confrontations with poise and efficiency
  • Ability to help lift patients from procedure tables to wheelchairs and from wheelchairs to cars
  • Regular and reliable attendance, required

Education and Experience:

  • Medical Assistant experience, preferred
  • Pain management experience, preferred
  • EMR, KASPER, INSPECT knowledge and experience, preferred
