Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Engineer to join our team at Teichert. As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting our Field Operations and Project Management functions in achieving their respective goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in achieving a zero-injury culture through the support of Teichert's Injury Prevention and Safety program and active participation in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Complete assignments and tasks on time, accurately, and meet customer expectations.
  • Assist and support Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Executives, and Superintendents.
  • May assist in monitoring work performance and productivity of craft workforce.
  • Provide support and assist in coordinating resources for assigned projects, including checking labor, equipment, and materials for accuracy, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, ordering and scheduling material, and building GPS models on the computer for the field.
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope and determine required contents of estimates and evaluate historical data to project unit and man hour figures.
  • Substantial travel to prepare and support job sites in a wide geographic area.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external customers, communicate company and project policies, procedures, and standards, and maintain a favorable impression of the company with external customers through professional and courteous interactions.
  • Complete internal administrative organization responsibilities and documentation, including project logs, files, records, reports, and estimates, and may include diaries, submittals, RFI's, contracts, permits, price quotes, purchase orders, work orders, invoices, traffic control plan design, and quantity take-off materials.
  • Assist in developing written Construction/Pipeline Program guidelines.
  • Additional responsibilities may include marking and calling in USA tickets, performing pre-job walks with Construction Managers to determine property lines and scope of work, taking pre and post job photos, placing door hangers/property owner coordination, restoration sketches, and pulling permits for meter relocation, supporting field crews for redline/as-built preparation, materials acquisition/coordinate with PG&E field engineer, determination of out-of-scope items, collecting GPS coordinates and compiling field weld logs, delivering materials and supplies to projects, and running miscellaneous errands.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • On-the-job training.
  • Six months prior experience in the construction field, solar field, utility field, or construction office preferred.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Current on all company required safety training.
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest.
  • Basic typing skills.
  • Knowledge of construction office procedures.
  • Knowledge of business machines.
  • Ability to use personal computer using word and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to consistently appear for work on time.
  • Substantial Travel/Overnight Travel.

Work Environment

The physical demands and work environment characteristics are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Sitting for long periods of time working at the computer or driving to job sites. Job site visits require walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, crawling in confined or enclosed spaces. Some lifting of materials and equipment up to 50 lbs. Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. May work long hours during peak seasons.

Typical office environment with adequate temperatures and lighting, low levels of noise. Exposed to the conditions of job sites which can include loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather conditions prevalent at the time. May work various shifts or hours, including early mornings, dusk or evenings.
