The Pharmacy Business Consultant acts as a vital resource and authority in pharmacy-related projects and initiatives.

Key Focus Areas:
pharmaceutical procurement, vendor contracts, compliance monitoring, cost evaluation, utilization assessments, and vendor relationship management.

This role may involve various care delivery segments, including acute care, outpatient retail, ambulatory services, managed care, specialty pharmacy, outpatient infusion, and long-term care.

The position operates under the guidance of the System Pharmacy Business Manager.

Core Responsibilities:
A typical day for a Pharmacy Business Consultant at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

- Developing and maintaining databases to monitor business performance.

- Reviewing financial plans, analyzing, and reporting on budget discrepancies.

- Evaluating data and summarizing performance metrics using statistical methods.

- Generating and distributing reports, making informed recommendations, and creating ad hoc reports as required.

- Tracking pharmacy clinical and financial trends while seeking opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost-saving strategies.

- Collaborating with stakeholders to address both immediate and long-term objectives.


- Leading and assisting in system implementation initiatives by gathering requirements, suggesting process and system design alternatives, collaborating with vendors and stakeholders, and providing project management support as necessary.

Maintaining all relevant financial documentation as needed.

- Performing additional duties and/or projects as assigned.

- Adhering to Hackensack Meridian Health's organizational competencies and standards of conduct.

Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and

Required Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.


1-3 years of related operational and/or data analysis experience; familiarity with database structures and standard reporting tools; or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient in computer applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Preferred Abilities:
Experience in pharmacy operations.
