Position Overview: The Compounding Pharmacy Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting our growing network of patients and healthcare providers in the New York area. Our advanced laboratory facilities are dedicated to producing high-quality, pure, and effective compounds for numerous patients. This position is integral to our healthcare services team, which collaborates to ensure exceptional patient care and satisfaction, aligning with our mission to enhance community health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a representative for compounding services to healthcare providers.
- Supervise team operations.
- Ensure quality control measures are met.
- Manage order processing and fulfillment.
- Provide education to healthcare providers regarding compounding capabilities.
- Verify prescriptions for accuracy.
- Engage in clinical consultations with patients and prescribers.
- Maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, as well as FDA and state regulations.
- Contribute to the development of training programs and internal processes to enhance workflow and technology use.
- Collaborate with the Research and Development team on new formulation initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required; Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Must hold a valid pharmacy license in New York.
Professional Experience: 0-1 year of experience in compounding pharmacy practice.
Specialized Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of compound formulations, drug interactions, and best practices in non-sterile compounding.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management systems; experience with Micro Merchant Systems PrimeRx is advantageous.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong understanding of ICD-9/ICD-10 and CPT coding, as well as medical terminology.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in dynamic work environments.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in non-sterile compounding and knowledge of USP 795.
- Understanding of FDA regulations and New York State pharmacy laws.
- Preferred familiarity with sterile compounding and knowledge of USP 797.
- References that can confirm professionalism and ethical standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Technical Skills:
- Ability to navigate Windows PC applications and learn complex software systems.
- Digital dexterity for effective use of computer systems.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Physical Activities: Involves standing, sitting, reaching, grasping, lifting, walking, climbing, and kneeling.
Mental Activities: Requires sustained concentration and planning abilities.
