Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Technologist, Cellular Therapy to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. This role will be responsible for performing and recording complex laboratory testing, as well as maintaining instruments and preparing for government and accreditation agency inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex procedures and testing of Cellular Therapy products in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Perform routine and complex maintenance on all instruments.
  • Work with the department head/supervisor in preparing for government and accreditation agencies inspections.
  • Interact with inspectors during inspections to answer technical questions.
  • Perform comparison trials, final analysis, and validation of procedures, equipment, and testing.
  • Prepare and update documents and SOP's needed for inspections by government and accreditation agencies.
  • Work with the department head/supervisor to document competencies.
  • Work with the department head/supervisor to process proficiency testing materials.
  • Perform all quality control (QC) as applicable.
  • Document all quality control (QC) procedures performed and corrective action when QC is out of range.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of instruments.
  • Train and supervise new employees.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation, calculations, and results reporting.
  • Review incoming orders and documentation to ensure proper handling and processing of cellular therapy products.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and manage Cellular Therapy products receipt and distribution according to departmental guidelines.
  • Calibrate and standardize instruments according to departmental guidelines.
  • Receive and maintain supplies and reagents according to the department's inventory management system. Performs Inventory control and ordering as needed.
  • Perform all system functions necessary to achieve the timely reporting of results.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or related cell therapy manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Works with some degree of latitude.
  • Solid working knowledge of subject matter.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous hospital experience.
  • Previous cellular therapy and/or blood bank experience.
  • Licenses and Certifications Required:
    • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent eligible.
  • Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
    • Certified as Medical Technologist (ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (NCA), Clinical Laboratory Technologists (HEW) or equivalent.
    • Certified Advanced Biotherapies Professional (CABP).
