At Hackensack Meridian Health, we are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Therapy Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of technical procedures, including image acquisition and the utilization of radionuclides for the diagnosis and therapy of disease.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform radionuclide procedures on patients, including organ imaging, function studies, and assisting physicians in the therapeutic use of radioisotopes under prescribed safety conditions.
- Select and operate Nuclear Medicine equipment as directed.
- Provide radiation protection for self and patients in accordance with prescribed safety.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients.
- Prepare radioactive tracer compounds for patient use.
- Calibrate equipment and assay radionuclides.
- Receive and inspect radiopharmaceutical packages according to state and NRC guidelines.
- Maintain adequate records of radioisotope receipt, use, storage, and disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain orderliness and cleanliness, including provisions for contamination-free conditions of room, equipment, and personnel.
- Follow all NRC, State DEP, TJC guidelines, and practices.
- Evaluate images using PACS workstation to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
- Assist radiation therapists, RNs, physicians, medical physicists, and ancillary staff in performing procedures.
- Assist radiation therapists with simulation procedures and construct immobilization devices as necessary.
- Ensure patient safe transfer into and out of procedure room and observation rooms.
- Actively participate in reproducing patient position and evaluating images.
- Assess and respond to patient physical and emotional conditions and special needs.
- Answer patient/family member questions within professional scope.
- Perform required duties, including use of EMR systems such as EPIC, PACS, ARIA, Teletracking System, Nuclear Medicine Information System, patient scheduling, and computer processing associated with patient studies.
- Work overtime as needed to provide continuity of patient care.
- Participate in on-call assignments as needed per Department of Radiation Oncology policy.
- Adhere to Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality policies.
- Identify patient population needs and modify and deliver care specific to those needs.
- Communicate with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their level.
- Greets all patients when they arrive for their exam using A.I.D.E.T. standards.
- Perform other duties and/or projects as assigned.
- Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Nuclear Medical Technologist License.
- AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
