Overview

This position represents the second tier in the Court Security Officer classification. The role is crucial in maintaining safety and order within court facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implements courtroom and facility regulations to ensure safety and security, utilizing defensive strategies and equipment to manage individuals who disrupt court activities.
  • Evaluates potentially hazardous and aggressive situations, taking proactive measures to de-escalate conflicts, respond to emergencies, and coordinate additional security as needed.
  • Installs, operates, and maintains various technological systems, including communication devices, audiovisual equipment, and surveillance tools.
  • Guides participants in court sessions, alerts court officials and legal representatives of their required presence, organizes seating arrangements, and formally opens court proceedings.
  • Conducts thorough inspections of courtrooms and facilities for prohibited items, performing searches on individuals entering the premises and confiscating any unauthorized weapons.
  • Documents and compiles records such as incident reports and log entries, ensuring accurate retrieval and management of files and information for court personnel.
  • Utilizes automated systems for managing civil and criminal case data, performing tasks such as data entry, updates, and inquiries.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

  • A minimum of six months of experience in security, providing protective services to individuals and properties.
  • At least six months of experience in maintaining records.
  • Six months of experience in using automated information systems for data management.
  • Familiarity with courtroom protocols, including witness procedures and legal terminology.
