Job Summary

Ryder is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to join our team in Albany, NY. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electronic issues, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our heavy-duty vehicles.

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including routine preventative maintenance and diagnostic repairs
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electronic issues, utilizing diagnostic computer tools when applicable
  • Identify root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties, including cleaning and organization of the shop
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine the nature of the complaint
  • Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Work in accordance with all federal and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred
  • This position requires the ability to drive Ryder vehicles. In order to become a Ryder employee, you must:
  • Be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
What We Offer
  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Certification bonus of $100 for each new ASE certification obtained, up to $700
  • Quarterly bonus: Ryder pays up to $500 every quarter, four times per year
  • Sign-on bonus: Ryder pays $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday, weekends off
  • Hours: Second shift, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm
  • Benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off, start at 30 days
