Pharmacy Technician Instructor Job Description

Germanna Community College is seeking a highly qualified Pharmacy Technician Instructor to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching classes within our established Pharmacy Technician program and serving as the Pharmacy Technician Program Director.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach up to 15 credit hours per semester, using diverse teaching methods to connect with all student populations, both in-person and online.
  • Support students through 10 on-campus or virtual office hours weekly, offering personalized academic advising and timely feedback on assignments.
  • Innovate and collaborate with colleagues to maintain a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Contribute to college events, committees, and professional development activities that align with our mission.
  • Ensure compliance and quality by upholding college standards and federal guidelines, incorporating equitable teaching practices, and continually refining your teaching approach.
  • Lead part-time faculty and develop plans for program success.
Requirements:
  • Licensed Pharmacist or Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician who graduated from an ASHP / ACPE-accredited pharmacy technician training program.
  • Two years of experience working in a pharmacy within the past five years.
  • Associate degree in the teaching field or required credentials specified in the VCCS -29: Normal Criteria for Each Faculty Rank.
  • Demonstration of strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstration of ability to facilitate student success in higher education.
  • Willingness to assume relevant technological skills required for effective teaching.
  • Willingness to assume duties to support the strategic goals of Germanna Community College.
  • Demonstration of commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.
  • Indication of teaching and service furthering the goal of building a culturally diverse educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Pharmacy or related field.
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • Track record of leadership.
  • Experience teaching in an online environment (synchronous/asynchronous) and use of a learning management system such as Canvas.
