Job Summary

The Accounting Manager position is a key role within Cal-Maine Foods, Inc. responsible for overseeing the financial operations of one of our affiliated locations. This position requires a strong background in accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee employees performing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
  • Closely monitor the company's financial health and performance, providing recommendations and taking actions to improve company profitability.
  • Provide financial tools and reports for management to ensure the team can track and hit financial objectives.
  • Track variances from the budget and work with management to improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide financial analyses, as needed, for capital investments, product pricing decisions, and cost analysis.
  • Maintain the integrity of the company's financial information.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
  • Prepare internal and external financial statements.
  • Ensure all transactional activities are conducted smoothly, including payroll, payables, receivables, debt payments, cash disbursements, accruals, reconciliations, etc.
  • Manage and reconcile the company's balance sheet and other general ledger accounts.
  • Track and reconcile purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, as well as back orders and exceptions.
  • Communicate with the marketing department regarding collections and short pays.
  • Be involved in inventory reconciliation processes.
  • Track and reconcile cash and debt.
  • Maintain the location's employee records.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in business, accounting, or a related field; or, five to eight years related experience and/or training is required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant certification is preferred.
  • Ability to manage others and work independently to complete projects.
  • Ability to prepare financial reports and give recommendations based on available data.
  • Strong communication skills, including writing, speaking, and active listening, along with the ability to interact efficiently with vendors, staff, and management.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced setting and adapting to changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word) is required.
