WSP is excited to announce an opportunity to join our Regulatory Engineering & Geological Services Team, where you can contribute to impactful projects and be part of a dynamic organization dedicated to addressing our clients' needs.

We are seeking a Junior Oil and Gas Engineer to support our team, which specializes in subsurface geological and engineering challenges related to site selection, feasibility studies, permitting, and the management of underground injection control wells for both hazardous and nonhazardous waste, as well as carbon sequestration initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee project budgets and implement cost control measures for the Regulatory Engineering & Geological Services Team.
• Develop and maintain project schedules utilizing project management software.
• Conduct thorough reviews of invoices before they are sent to clients.
• Assist in crafting proposals for industrial waste disposal and carbon sequestration projects through effective project management.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to provide insights and analyses for design concepts, construction evaluations, root cause analyses, project controls, budget estimates, and project completion reports.

• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs within the defined project scope and budgetary constraints.
• Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of geologists, engineers, CAD specialists, and administrative personnel to achieve project success.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering.
• Familiarity with petroleum engineering principles, practices, processes, and their application to permitting and project-related issues.
• 1-3 years of relevant operational experience in well-related activities such as snubbing, coiled tubing, wireline, workovers, and drilling.
• 1-3 years of experience in petroleum engineering or project management.
• 1-3 years of experience engaging with clients and regulatory bodies.
• Experience with permitting processes involving relevant regulatory agencies.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of articulating ideas effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in technical writing and the development of comprehensive technical documents; writing samples may be requested during the interview process.
• Willingness to travel occasionally based on project needs, with expected travel being less than 10%.


• Adhere to ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, in alignment with WSP's Code of Conduct and policies.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with WSP's health, safety, and drug/alcohol policies.


This position is subject to a client-mandated drug/alcohol testing policy, and candidates may be required to undergo random testing. A copy of this policy will be provided during onboarding and is available upon request.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
• Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) certification.
• Experience in project management with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Knowledge of permitting processes for Underground Injection Control (UIC) projects.
• Familiarity with injection well operations, including wastewater disposal and enhanced oil recovery (EOR).
• Experience with Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) projects.
