Position Summary

The Fuels Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing and ensuring the quality of our Military Fuels System construction projects. This position involves comprehensive management, inspections, and quality assurance processes to uphold the standards set by our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage on-site fuel system repair projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards in collaboration with the Quality Control Manager.
  • Assist in the formulation of a 3-week look-ahead field schedule alongside the Project Manager, maintaining updates on critical path activities.
  • Oversee daily construction operations, managing both in-house teams and subcontractors to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Review contract documents for design inconsistencies and code compliance, promptly addressing any issues with the Project Manager.
  • Facilitate the preparation and execution of Requests for Information (RFIs) to address site-specific challenges efficiently.
  • Conduct weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors, relaying outcomes to the Project Manager.
  • Evaluate and analyze Subcontractor Daily Reports to monitor work progress and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Quality Control Managers, Safety Officers, and Government Inspectors to uphold safety and security standards on-site.
  • Identify potential project disputes and claims, working towards amicable resolutions.
  • Implement the USACE 3-Phase QC inspection process, ensuring compliance with project specifications and documentation for successful project closeout.
  • Manage repairs related to fuel systems, including tanks, pipelines, valves, instrumentation, and associated infrastructure.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in fuel system repair projects or API 653 tank repairs.
  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification is required.
  • Experience in refinery or chemical plant operations is preferred.
  • Military or commercial fuels background with at least 5 years of aviation fuel system maintenance experience.
  • At least three years of experience as a Site Superintendent on DoD/Military POL facilities.
  • Certification in USACE Construction Quality Control Management and familiarity with 3-Phase QC inspection methods.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite applications.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Successful candidates may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
Physical Requirements

This role demands the ability to navigate various work environments, including outdoor sites, and requires physical stamina for tasks such as walking, lifting, and prolonged standing. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be utilized as necessary.

Working Environment

The position entails a mix of office and outdoor work, with exposure to varying weather conditions and potential hazards associated with construction sites. Regular use of computer systems is also required.
