About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medication Aide to join our team at Five Star Senior Living. As a Medication Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by administering medications and providing exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver routine daily medications to residents, ensuring accurate dosages and administration times
  • Record medication dosages and times, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
  • Observe residents and document changes in their condition, reporting any concerns to nursing staff
  • Gather samples for analysis, as required
  • Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned, maintaining a safe and hygienic environment
  • Uphold all health and safety standards, adhering to federal, state, and agency regulations
  • Coordinate with nursing staff to assist with resident care and medications
  • Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications, ensuring accurate administration
  • Respond to resident emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify residents' needs
  • Protect confidential client information, maintaining resident confidentiality
  • Seek guidance from nursing staff as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a state-approved Medication Aide course and approval to assist with or administer oral and external medications, per state regulations
  • Demonstrate competency to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, although mandatory in certain states
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 years old, or the age required by state regulations, whichever is higher
  • Working experience alone, on a team, and on projects start to finish
  • Strong emotional intelligence and listening skills
  • Dedication to the medical field, especially towards working with residents
  • Pass State and company background checks and drug test
  • Take vital signs
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Medication supervision (within the scope of state regulations)
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
