Your Opportunity
We are looking for a waste management strategist to become a part of our Midwest team. This role presents significant potential for leadership and advancement within the regional waste management sector. Responsibilities will include managing, executing, and supporting project tasks; developing business with both public and private sector clients; and nurturing client relationships in a seller/doer capacity. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in shaping our strategic direction, aiding in our growth objectives, and delivering exceptional customer service to our clients.
Your Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate solid waste and recycling strategies, including zero-waste initiatives, waste reduction, and diversion planning.
  • Conduct research, analyze, and compile relevant project data.
  • Lead comprehensive waste audits and characterization studies.
  • Assess solid waste and recycling services, operations, facilities, and policies.
  • Facilitate public engagement efforts.
  • Prepare and evaluate financial forecasts and projections.
  • Oversee and direct technical project work.
  • Provide quality control reviews for technical outputs.
  • Draft and review proposals while assisting in business planning and strategic growth initiatives to expand our client base and geographic reach.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on solid waste management and infrastructure projects related to planning, design, and construction.
  • Engage with clients and sub-consultants to ensure timely and effective project delivery.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in waste management practices.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience in preparing project scopes and fee estimates.
  • Technical expertise in solid waste planning and report generation; experience in the waste management and recycling sector.
  • Familiarity with sustainability concepts, including climate resilience, emerging technologies, GHG protocols, and corporate sustainability reporting is preferred.
  • Experience in designing and implementing sustainability programs is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for team meetings, client consultations, site inspections, and business development activities.
  • Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail; strong time management abilities.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with team members.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Your Education and Experience A Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field is required.
A minimum of six (6) years of experience in waste management consulting, focusing on planning projects, is essential.
At least two (2) years of project management experience coordinating tasks and engaging with clients and stakeholders is preferred.
Possession of a TRUE Advisor certificate or the ability to obtain one is required.
This role typically involves working in an office environment with prolonged periods of computer use. Fieldwork may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
