As a Virtualization Lead Engineer / Advanced Subject Matter Expert, you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing advanced virtual solutions while collaborating closely with senior military staff and project managers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a multi-tenant virtualized data center and secure hybrid cloud computing environments, ensuring efficient management of virtualized storage, networks, and desktops.
  • Assess technical requirements to support mission objectives, coordinating with enterprise technicians to develop operational checklists for virtualization configurations.
  • Manage technologies that align with the Air Force's Microsoft-centric environment, facilitating the integration of various networks into a unified data network.
  • Provide engineering support consistent with established reference architecture designs.
  • Administer virtual capabilities, including storage, network, and server management, utilizing platforms such as VMware vSphere, Citrix Xen, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Develop comprehensive training plans for personnel to navigate complex virtual environments, including Cisco UCS and VMware Horizon View.
  • Supervise storage area networks, ensuring compatibility with various brands and a thorough understanding of hyper-converged solutions.
  • Provision virtual servers to support unified computing and SharePoint deployments, transitioning from physical to virtual platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with Air Force specifications in managing networks, servers, and storage on secure networks.
  • Deliver training on provisioning virtual clients and assist in developing operational test plans for VDI systems.
  • Conduct daily health checks on VDI infrastructure, utilizing advanced monitoring technologies.
  • Engage in troubleshooting and customer support for virtual servers and VDI client hardware.
  • Implement and manage PCoIP technologies to enhance user experience in virtual environments.
  • Perform operational testing and develop procedures in a controlled laboratory setting.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in managing and configuring storage and server technologies.
  • Proficient in virtualization software and technologies, with relevant certifications.
  • Active security clearance is required.
