OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of the School Principal, the Mathematics Support Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality instructional support in Mathematics tailored to the diverse needs of students. This role is essential in fostering a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and facilitating effective implementation strategies.

The specialist will engage with both large and small groups of students who require additional instructional support. This position necessitates collaboration with mathematics educators to schedule and implement targeted interventions.

In one-on-one or small group settings, the specialist will employ a variety of hands-on, visual, and concept-based mathematical intervention strategies that are age-appropriate and aligned with the Arizona Standards.

Additionally, the role involves demonstrating techniques that enhance student motivation and behavior, taking into account their influence on academic success within the learning environment.

The Mathematics Support Specialist position is active throughout the academic year, with a total of 1,760 hours annually. Performance evaluations will be significantly based on student mathematics achievement as reflected in district and state assessments.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Adhere to Arizona statutes, school board policies, and regulations.
- Uphold school rules and administrative regulations.
- Attend meetings and fulfill duties as assigned by supervisors.
- Participate in the school's Professional Learning Community (PLC) and support student organizations.
- Foster cooperative relationships with staff, students, and the community.
- Guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Create and implement a positive learning environment and research-based study programs that are conducive to learning and appropriate for student maturity and interests.
- Manage and maintain an orderly and safe learning environment.

- Demonstrate exemplary instructional practices in mathematics and possess a profound understanding of mathematical theory to enhance student achievement.
- Analyze data regularly and monitor student progress while delivering focused interventions.
- Teach remedial mathematics courses as needed based on student achievement data.

Collaborate with teachers, administration, and families to identify best practices for individual and small groups of students. Engage in ongoing professional development activities to gather information related to mathematics. Utilize a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and meet the diverse needs of student groups. Maintain data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress. Ensure timely submission of reports, grades, and communications. Demonstrate the ability to integrate technology into instruction and operational duties.
