The Accounting Manager will be tasked with formulating and executing a robust accounting strategy, reporting directly to the Director of Finance for BioServices Specialty Logistics.
This position is essential in ensuring the accuracy of accounting and financial reporting by providing leadership, business collaboration, process insight, and technical proficiency.
This role will work closely with the Clinical Trial Division (CTD) accounting team and Corporate Accounting teams to enhance controls, streamline processes, and shift from reactive to proactive risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the month-end close process with an emphasis on fostering improvement and collaboration among remote and on-site teams.
- Guarantee precise, timely, and comprehensive consolidations and reporting for all relevant entities.
- Maintain a highly effective control environment with a thorough understanding of end-to-end Controllership processes, evaluating current process gaps and tools to ensure efficient financial controls in compliance with US GAAP, SOX requirements, and company policies.
Lead cross-functional initiatives aimed at enhancing execution and compliance, including monthly analytical reviews, peer reviews, and balance sheet assessments.
Collaborate with Corporate Technical Accounting teams to conduct technical accounting research on evolving issues to ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
Support controllership in developing data infrastructure and reporting tools that transform the month-end close process, balance sheet reconciliation/analysis, risk analysis, and management reviews in support of transformation initiatives.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5+ years of diverse accounting/finance leadership experience, combining public accounting and demonstrated expertise.
- An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
- Experience with FAR and CAS requirements for Government Contracting.
- Extensive knowledge of general accounting and Government Accounting.
- Proven ability to drive continuous improvement with a successful track record of optimizing processes and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently with broad guidance within a framework of defined business objectives in a matrix environment.
- Experience in a leading and diverse global financial organization, participating in month-end close processes accurately and timely while maintaining a strong control environment.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP with proven advanced accounting and technical skills, including experience with complex revenue arrangements in a manufacturing context.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information authoritatively to all organizational levels.
- Ability to thrive in a large, fast-paced, matrixed organization, with a history of leading cross-functional teams to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers and operating partners across functions and geographies.
- Prior experience with financial software such as CODA, Hyperion Financial Management, and Hyperion Planning.
- Ability to prioritize effectively among multiple projects and implement them successfully.
