Job Summary

Old Republic Surety Company is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President-Surety Claims to join its Claims Team on the West Coast. This role plays a critical part in the collaboration and design of policies and procedures within the Claims department to achieve quality claims handling results while ensuring compliance with company procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise direct reports, make recommendations for performance management and disciplinary action, and train subordinates to achieve goals.
  • Set authority levels of direct reports and execute resolution of assigned claims by achieving equitable claim service on a timely basis.
  • Negotiate and settle claims with a higher complexity level within authority limits, control allocated Loss Adjustment Expenses, and back up the Vice President-Surety Claims with respect to claim assignments and inquiries from other departments.
  • Consult with the Vice President-Surety Claims on development and execution of department initiatives, file necessary fraud reports to ensure compliance with various state regulations and filing requirements, and serve as SIU Coordinator.
  • Attend various industry association meetings on behalf of the company and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of ten years of Surety Claims experience, including prior management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and Office products, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational and accurate proofreading skills, and the ability to maintain accurate records.
  • The ability to exercise discretion with confidential information, strong attention to detail, and the ability to use a variety of office equipment.
