Position Overview

St. Luke's Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiac Monitor Technician & Unit Secretary to join our dynamic team. This role combines the critical responsibilities of continuous ECG monitoring with essential administrative support for our acute care unit.

Key Responsibilities: Cardiac Monitoring

  • Provide continuous ECG monitoring, accurately interpreting cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias.
  • Measure P-R intervals, QRS widths, and ST segment deviations to identify potential abnormalities.
  • Troubleshoot monitoring issues, recognizing probable causes and implementing solutions.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, hardware, and telemetry transmitters, ensuring they are in working order.
  • Promptly report any malfunctions or concerns.

Key Responsibilities: Unit Secretary

  • Perform clerical tasks to facilitate patient flow and communication within the unit.
  • Serve as a resource for staff, students, and float personnel regarding clerical procedures and computer functions.
  • Order and maintain adequate supplies of forms and materials.
  • Assign, track, and update telemetry transmitters and phones on the unit.
  • Maintain confidentiality while acting as a receptionist, screening calls and visitors appropriately.
  • Set up call systems for patient care assignments and ensure phone functionality.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Knowledge of cardiac rhythms and basic EKG interpretation.
  • Certification as a Certified Cardiac Monitor Telemetry Technician (CCMTT) or Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT) is highly desirable.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Successful completion of PHC telemetry monitoring competency assessment within 30 days of hire.
