We are seeking a skilled Estimator to join our team at Jobot. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial construction estimating, with a proven ability to evaluate project plans, collaborate with project managers, research bids, negotiate contracts, and prepare quantity surveys.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits to gather data for preparing estimates.
- Assess project demands, including labor, materials, and time requirements.
- Research bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring their quotes are accurate and competitive.
- Prepare detailed construction proposals outlining the scope of work, timeline, and costs.
- Negotiate contracts to ensure the best possible terms for the company.
- Prepare quantity surveys for all materials, labor, equipment, and services required for the project.
- Present bid packages to clients and stakeholders in a clear and professional manner.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects during the pre-construction phase to ensure all aspects of the project are accounted for in the estimate.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements, including changes in construction costs, regulations, and building codes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, preferably in commercial construction.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Proficient in construction estimating software and tools.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, materials, and standards.
- Excellent numerical skills and ability to produce accurate, detailed estimates.
- Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable contracts.
- Ability to conduct thorough site visits and accurately assess project demands.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively present bid packages to various stakeholders.
- Strong research skills, with the ability to source and analyze bids from various subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals, including project managers, engineers, and architects.
- Strong understanding of building codes and regulations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
