Airtight Energy Consulting, Inc. is a small but growing company that provides HERS ratings, Passive House consulting and verification, and energy code assistance to developers, architects, contractors and others involved in the design and construction of multifamily buildings, single family homes, and commercial buildings. 


This position will focus on Passive House consulting and modeling, commercial energy code compliance, and blower door testing buildings of all shapes and sizes.   


Responsibilities: 

  • Providing project management and consulting for projects seeking Passive House certification or other advanced certifications  
  • Reviewing architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting plans and specifications and writing reports describing recommendations 
  • Performing take-offs of envelope, mechanical, plumbing, and lighting systems  
  • Developing Sketchup models of single family, multifamily, and commercial buildings 
  • Performing WUFI energy modeling of single family, multifamily, and commercial buildings 
  • Performing THERM modeling of thermal bridge details 
  • Performing COMcheck energy code calculations for commercial buildings 
  • Performing on-site inspections for projects 
  • Performing blower door tests using diagnostic equipment 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor of Science degree in science, engineering, architecture, building technology, or similar 
  • Meet at least one of the following: 2 years experience with architectural design or building systems engineering, 3 years experience with energy modeling and consulting, Certified Passive House Consultant, or Masters Degree in Sustainable Building, Environmental Design, or similar 
  • Interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and minimizing global climate change 
  • Located within 70 miles of Northampton, Massachusetts and willing to work in our office 1-3 days per week 
  • Use of a personal vehicle for work and a good driving record
