Plant Mechanic II

Job Summary:
MarBorg Recovery is seeking a highly skilled Plant Mechanic II to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operation of equipment located inside our Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform planned maintenance inspections (PM) and diagnose, repair, and rebuild major equipment/components.
- Make necessary repairs to plant production equipment and support equipment as required.
- Maintain inventory control of maintenance repair parts.
- Schedule and set priorities for maintenance and repair work on equipment.
- Generate work orders and evaluate repair work on its completion.
- Perform highly technical work on hydraulic systems, fabrication projects, and rebuilding assignments.
- Locate, correct, and adjust defects in light and heavy-duty vehicular and mechanical equipment.
- Adapt available tools and repair parts to specific repair problems.
- Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
- Act as a lead worker by instructing and directing others.
- Inspect the quality of third-party repairs and/or rebuilds.
- Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
Requirements:
- Working knowledge of electrical and control systems.
- High level of competency within a specific trade or discipline (e.g., welding, millwright, mechanics).
- Ability to work on conveyor belts and motors that drive the belts.
- Trained on all needed hand tools to complete tasks.
- Able to troubleshoot hydraulic issues on the baler and optical sorter.
- Able to replace baler knives on the baler.
- Able to replace STADLER bearings and shafts.
- Able to replace all components on the screens (shafts, bearings, chains, and sprockets).
- Able to replace optical sorter belts (using the belt press).
- Able to torch cut using a gas torch.
- Able to replace all components on all conveyors.
- Able to safely and efficiently lead a crew of maintenance mechanics to complete tasks.
- Principles of automotive repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to perform under limited supervision.
- Ability to recognize routine mechanical difficulties and malfunctions.
- Ability to use a variety of hand, power tools, and equipment.
- Ability to always work safely and institute safe work practices.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Minimum of 5 years of mechanic service and repair experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, including the ability to read, comprehend, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
