The Patient Access Representative I is a vital role within the Kaiser Permanente Health System environment. This position is responsible for ensuring a seamless and efficient patient experience, from initial registration to clinical care.
Key Responsibilities:- Registration: Greet and register patients for various medical services, ensuring accurate and complete demographic information and insurance data.
- Revenue Collection: Determine and collect patient liabilities, including co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurance, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to organizational policies.
- Appointing: Schedule and cancel appointments as needed, ensuring timely and efficient use of resources.
- Regulatory Compliance: Complete necessary forms and documentation, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA, EMTALA, and Medicaid/Medicare requirements.
- Minimum one (1) year of healthcare financial experience and one (1) year of office environment customer service, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Basic Life Support certification and Medical Terminology certification within 180 days of employment.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and written skills, with ability to type minimum 35 wpm with above-average accuracy.
- Previous experience with cash handling and automated patient care systems, with knowledge of basic medical terminology and diagnostic related groupings.
- Previous experience with EPIC applications and hospital or ambulatory clinic registration experience.
- One (1) year of higher education and certification by HFMA or NAHAM.
