Job Summary:

The Cardiac Surveillance Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare team, working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position requires a high level of attention to detail and effective communication skills to ensure seamless collaboration with physicians, staff, and responsible nurses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide continuous cardiac surveillance for telemetry patients, maintaining effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain current knowledge and competency in rhythm and dysrhythmia identification, ensuring accurate interpretation and recording of patient data.
  • Compile and record data for patient records and unit purposes, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Maintain safety in the use of all equipment, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers and other departments to achieve organizational goals, orienting new staff to CST functions as needed.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Successfully complete an EKG Arrhythmia test with a grade > 90% overall and 100% lethal arrhythmias within 90 days of hire.
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous cardiac monitoring experience and/or successful completion of a basic cardiac monitoring course.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dyshrythmias.
