Position Overview:
The Lead Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for overseeing advanced technical assistance for a wide array of IT systems and networks in a highly secure environment.

This role demands expertise in troubleshooting, system upkeep, and user assistance, with an emphasis on maintaining the availability, performance, and security of IT infrastructure. A solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and adherence to Department of Defense (DOD) regulations is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Supervision: Direct a team of technical support professionals, offering guidance, training, and performance evaluation. Serve as the primary escalation point for intricate technical challenges.
  • Technical Support: Identify and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for users. Oversee the management and maintenance of desktop setups, servers, and network devices.
  • System Maintenance: Conduct regular system updates, patch management, and vulnerability assessments. Ensure compliance with DOD 8140 and other pertinent regulations.
  • Security Compliance: Enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures. Monitor system activities for potential security threats and respond swiftly to incidents.
  • Project Management: Oversee IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and deployments, ensuring timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of system configurations, modifications, and support activities. Generate reports on system performance and security compliance.
  • Communication: Collaborate with various departments, vendors, and external partners to resolve technical issues and coordinate support efforts. Provide management with regular updates on system status and ongoing projects.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline. Advanced certifications (e.g., CISSP, Security+, ITIL) are preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years in technical support or a related IT role, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory position.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems, network configurations, and cybersecurity best practices. Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Security Clearance: An active Secret Clearance is required.
  • DOD 8140 Compliance: Must possess or obtain within 6 months of hire a certification that meets DOD 8140 requirements (e.g., Security+ CE, CISSP).

Work Environment:

  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift and transport computer equipment as necessary. Occasional travel may be required for off-site support.
  • Work Schedule: Full-time position with potential for after-hours support as needed.
