Defense Operations Strategist

The MITRE Corporation is seeking an experienced strategic policy subject matter expert to support wargaming, modeling, and simulation exercises in support of existing sponsors in the OUSD R&E. This role involves analysis of national defense strategies, supporting programs with allies and partners, and leading teams to successful outcomes. As a National Security Analyst, you'll define future operational strategy, work shaping of MITRE's projects, and sponsor engagement.

About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity that requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience. You'll work with the Project Leads, MITRE OSD Program Leadership, and USD (R&E) government leadership to shape the MITRE work program and customer strategy. You'll maintain a thorough understanding of the customer's mission, environment, and critical challenges and align MITRE tasks and capabilities to support their most critical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Project Leads, MITRE OSD Program Leadership, and USD (R&E) government leadership to shape the MITRE work program and customer strategy.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the customer's mission, environment, and critical challenges and align MITRE tasks and capabilities to support their most critical outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying, improving the quality of, and ensuring the delivery of data-driven technical products in partnership with individual task leads to support achievement of critical customer goals and outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Candidates must have expertise and experience in areas such as Multi-Domain Operations, Electronic Warfare, Wargaming, Contested Logistics, or Net Assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide objective solutions and recommendations directly addressing customer challenges and priorities.
  • Prior leadership or principal investigator experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Experience working with high-level DoD officials.
  • Demonstrated impactful leadership of teams.
