Job Summary

The Reliability Engineer will provide technical expertise on all matters of reliability engineering, assessment, and monitoring for all process equipment. This includes carrying out reliability studies on existing equipment and recommending needed improvements to Operations management in the areas of equipment philosophies, strategies, and best practices for asset productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement equipment asset plans using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and other reliability techniques.
  • Apply engineering theory and practice to perform physical failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures, and conduct equipment performance evaluations.
  • Analyze equipment trends and historical data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost.
  • Determine how process variation and equipment operation can impact equipment reliability.
  • Support Area Mechanical Integrity (MI) projects, repairs, and maintenance to ensure compliance with regulations, RAGAGEPs, and Celanese procedures.
  • Support site MI Steering Committee, including audits.
  • Promote consistency by standardizing equipment procedures and operations within the area of responsibility.
  • Support capital projects by participating in setting equipment criteria and specifications to optimize equipment/system reliability and life cycle cost.
  • Participate in production turn-around/shutdown teams providing input into needed equipment inspection and repair procedures.
  • Participate in maintenance and reliability networks, sharing best practices, successes, and failures.
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring, and mentoring of new reliability co-ops and engineers.
  • Participate in continuing education courses, professional organizations, and reliability conferences to stay current with emerging technologies.
  • Develop reliability competency and participate in networks/forums as appropriate to maximize contribution.
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of applicable experience; demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively as a mechanical engineer in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • Strong trouble-shooting skills.
  • Ability to learn and work independently.
  • Ability to work with others involved in a variety of functions, including operators, mechanics, engineers of various disciplines, management, and other leaders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 3.0 overall GPA preferred.
  • Certification in lubrication, vibration, or failure analysis preferred.
