Job Title: Assistant Cook

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Cook to join our team at Schuyler County New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of food on a moderate to large scale, as well as assuming responsibility for the program in the absence of a Cook or Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook a variety of foods, including meats, soups, vegetables, cereals, and desserts.
  • Participate in the preparation of baked goods and use electric meat slicers, meat grinders, ovens, and steam equipment.
  • Receive and store meat, milk, cheese, and other products requiring preparation and cooling or freezing.
  • Prepare meals for delivery outside the primary meal site and serve hot and cold food on a serving line.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the food service area by washing utensils, appliances, and floors.
  • Rotate foodstuffs and dispose of outdated items, and keep inventory of foodstuffs and make out orders when necessary.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
  • Six months of experience in the preparation of food on a large scale or in an institutional setting.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Working Conditions:

The work environment is a fast-paced kitchen setting with a moderate to high level of noise and activity. The successful candidate must be able to work in a team environment and maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.
