Byrne Dairy & Deli is a family-owned company with a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service and high-quality food products. We are seeking an experienced Assistant Food Service Manager to join our team.
Job Description:
The Assistant Food Service Manager will be responsible for managing the entire foodservice program in one of our Byrne Dairy and Deli stores when the Food Service Manager is not present. This includes ensuring that all federal, state, and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cash register
- Stock product from cooler and freezer
- Ensure that food items are stored in a safe and hazard-free environment
- Prepare and serve food according to recipe cards
- Provide excellent customer service
- Train, motivate, and develop foodservice employees
- Maintain all foodservice equipment, including cleaning ice cream machines
- Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager or Food Service Manager
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- General knowledge and understanding of foodservice operations
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate problem-solving and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work nights and weekends
- Good communication skills
- Ability to meet minimum requirements on pre-employment testing
- Capacity to handle responsibility for ensuring proper presentation, portion control, and maintenance of serving temperatures
- Ability to supervise others, including assigning/directing work, conducting employee evaluations, staff training and development, and taking disciplinary/corrective actions

Physical Demands:
This role requires regular standing and walking, occasional climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and lifting/moving up to 50 pounds. The ability to work in varying temperatures, including coolers and freezers, is also required.
