Job Overview

The Service Center Technician plays a crucial role in the operational efficiency of SPI LLC by executing essential maintenance and repair tasks across various equipment and fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities

The technician is expected to enhance their skill set continuously, enabling them to perform tasks independently and effectively. Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a tidy and organized workspace, ensuring all repair items are clearly labeled.
  • Conducting scheduled maintenance and diagnosing equipment issues based on demonstrated expertise without the need for supervision.
  • Independently cleaning parts and equipment.
  • Preparing rental equipment for use and managing the check-in process upon return according to established procedures.
  • Ensuring good housekeeping practices in the shop and warehouse, particularly in the spray booth area prior to training sessions.
  • Verifying the availability of all necessary shop materials and supplies before commencing tasks.
  • Developing the necessary skills to complete assigned tasks successfully without oversight.
  • Completing tasks assigned by the Shop Supervisor or designated lead.
Additional Responsibilities

Secondary duties may include:

  • Assisting with freight-related tasks, such as crate building.
  • Providing backup support as a delivery driver.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred:

Experience as a skilled multi-tradesman with knowledge in:

  • General mechanics
  • Basic carpentry
  • Fundamental electrical work
  • Industry-specific equipment
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Maintaining cleanliness in the shop and warehouse areas
Physical Requirements

Physical demands may include, but are not limited to:

  • Extended periods of sitting while driving, along with walking, standing, and climbing.
  • Activities involving stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
  • Working in various environments around machinery with moving parts and vehicles.
  • Exposure to different weather conditions and potentially slippery or uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
Travel Requirements

Some travel may be necessary.

Conclusion

The primary objective of this role is to fulfill the expectations set by the Shop Supervisor and contribute to the overall success of SPI LLC. The technician is expected to demonstrate accountability, initiative in learning, and a commitment to enhancing their understanding of the skills necessary for smooth shop and warehouse operations while supporting colleagues in achieving the same. Professionalism and pride in workmanship, along with adherence to company policies, are essential.
