Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Support Specialist to join our team at Chapel Haven Schleifer Center Inc. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or developmental disabilities.

Role Overview:

The SAIL Program Staff will provide support and teaching in the areas of daily living and social skills to individuals living in the Chapel Haven Schleifer Center, Inc. SAIL Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal preparation skills, including good nutritional habits and related skills.
  • Provide assistance with personal hygiene and grooming, including showering, shaving, teeth brushing, organizing dressers, and picking an appropriate outfit.
  • Teach laundry skills, such as laundry preparation, detergent use, washer/dryer operation, drying, folding, and putting away laundry.
  • Assist with social relationships, problem-solving, peer counseling, and appropriate social skills.
  • Complete daily progress notes for individuals based on their individual goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field, or 4+ years' experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities or developmental disabilities and some knowledge working with DDS and/or CARF.
