About the Role

The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations is seeking a skilled Behavioral Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide 24/7 resident-centered care, facilitating, participating, and monitoring the residents with co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effectively redirect behaviors involving risk of physical harm to self or others or the destruction of property.
  • Successfully complete daily written reports within the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system for each client, documenting client successes and concerning behaviors.
  • Provide on-going assessments of progress and create general strategies for behavior assessment.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and crisis intervention, avoiding coercive interventions.
  • Model direct and clear communications with peers, clients, and supervisors, encompassing cultural awareness and respectfulness of differences.
  • Establish a helping relationship with the person receiving services by demonstrating empathy, respect, and genuineness to build trust.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner, presenting a professional image in appearance, communications, and demeanor.
  • Adhere to Agency scheduling policy, follow program activity schedules, and commit to personal professional development.
  • Assist in gathering information about basic and community living of the person receiving services to be used in assessment process, implement designation interventions, and behavioral management programs.
  • Communicate with supervisor and established chain of command regarding daily operations and/or incidents, documenting all required information in a clear, legible, timely, concise, and accurate manner.
  • Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team to assess client's behaviors and create a specially designed treatment plan, then implement it.
  • Demonstrate positive engagements with residents, reinforcing proactive behaviors, and seek to participate in effective leadership approaches and training to enhance job skills.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or a GED from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of one year's relevant work experience and/or training working with adolescents and teenagers, demonstrating the ability to complete the job duties and responsibilities outlined.
  • Successful completion of the Residential Child and Youth Care Professional (RCYCP) training preferred (may be obtained through on-the-job training at the Healing Lodge at no cost to the employee).
  • Knowledge in Native American culture/spiritual traditions and practices preferred.
What We Offer

The Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations offers a competitive wage range of $20.14-$31.27 (DOE/DOQ), with opportunities for wage increases after successful completion of a 90-day probationary period and incrementally after that for 24 months. We also offer a range of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as a 403(b) Thrift Savings Plan with the HL7N maximum pension contribution of 4% after 12 months of employment and a successful performance evaluation rating.
