About the Position

The Director of Behavioral Health Services is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the Substance Use Disorder Program, Behavioral Intervention Specialist Program, and Admissions/Intake. This position requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Lead a team of clinical professionals in delivering healthcare services and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  2. Supervise clinicians and clinical supervisors on matters related to staffing, personnel issues, and compliance.
  3. Responsible for all programming audits to maintain compliance and operational standards.
  4. Plan, design, develop, and direct a comprehensive residential substance abuse program for male and female adolescents.
  5. Work in collaboration with Tribes and government entities in the admissions process, ensuring all health information gathered supports ASAM 3.5 admissions and medical billing standards.
  6. Ensure all clinical services are evidence-based, trauma-informed, and focused on cultural needs.
  7. Plan and facilitate BH operations meetings to ensure all supervisors and managers are working in accordance with the Healing Lodge's mission and strategic plan.
  8. Ensure patients are treated with respect and dignity while participating in their recovery program.
  9. Develop innovative programs and workflows, policies, practices, and guidelines to meet and exceed quality, access, patient/staff safety, targets, and goals.
  10. Lead and manage work groups on quality performance and improvement projects.
  11. Analyze data and prepare written and oral reports for the Executive Director on behavioral health services productivity goals, identifying challenges and potential resolutions.
  12. Appropriately manage department budgets, revenue, and expenditures through employee hour reports and detailed expenditure reporting.
  13. Ensure compliance with CARF/JCI accreditation, FQHC standards, and other State/Federal agency regulations.
  14. Prepare the Department for all Behavioral Health Department program audits and ensure all information and documentation is available for auditors.
  15. Conduct employee performance evaluations, ensuring patient safety and delivery of quality clinical services are essential components of patient service delivery and successful completion of the resident's recovery program.
  16. Provide consistent direction and supervision to supervisees, focusing on ensuring appropriate coverage for the number of residents and shifts, and delivery of quality and continuity of program services, activities, and clinical care support.
  17. Manage and monitor timely responses to operational problems, ensuring thorough and accurate internal and external communications.
  18. Lead and coach on facilitation of positive and supportive problem-solving solutions.
  19. Track Resident Admission census goals and objectives, presenting weekly Census Trend Analysis reports to the Executive Director.
  20. Lead department training classes involving SUD & BIS staff in early detection, problem resolution, de-escalation, milieu management, motivation interviewing, and positive resolution skill development.
  21. Prepare high-level department operation reports for the Executive Board of Directors regular and BOD special meetings and present verbal reports as requested by the Executive Director.
  22. Act as a resource for other department personnel, collaborator with interfacing departments, and leader and mentor for the department staff.
  23. Utilize exceptional communication skills across a variety of personnel and departments, maintaining a high level of respect, professionalism, and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
