Job Summary

As a key member of the CAMC Health System team, the Vascular Technologist plays a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and strong communication skills to work effectively with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of vascular testing procedures, including cerebral, venous, and arterial assessments, to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases.
  • Assess patient condition and coordinate transfers to and from testing procedures, ensuring seamless care delivery.
  • Explain testing procedures to patients and obtain detailed medical histories to inform diagnosis and treatment.
  • Provide educational resources and training to staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals, promoting technical competence and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director on research initiatives and publications, contributing to the advancement of vascular medicine.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and testing protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate equipment needs and make recommendations for purchases, ensuring the department remains equipped with the latest technology.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Patient Group Knowledge: The Vascular Technologist must possess and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care for patients of all ages.

Specifically, the employee must be able to:

  • Obtain and interpret patient information to inform diagnosis and treatment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
  • Understand the range of treatment needs for patients with vascular diseases.

Competency Statement: The Vascular Technologist must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and unit/department-specific competency checklist.

Education and Credentials
  • Formalized Training: Diagnostic Ultrasound or Echo Experience.
  • Registered Vascular Spec or Registered Vascular Tech.
  • Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
