Fraud Operations Team Lead

Phaxis is seeking a highly skilled Fraud Operations Team Lead to join our team in a hybrid 3-day on-site role. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the fraud analysts, providing guidance and performance management, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the Fraud Prevention & Investigation (FPI) department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee daily activities of the fraud analysts, providing guidance and performance management.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Facilitate ongoing training sessions for the FPI team as needed.
  • Assist in developing and updating training materials for the department.
  • Participate in regular meetings with Investigators.
  • Manage pending Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR) filings, ensuring timely submission to the appropriate regulatory authorities.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments when fraud investigations or alerts require cross-functional collaboration.
  • Prepare and distribute daily and weekly FPI reports.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of the General Ledger accounts used by the FPI team.
  • Aid in the investigation of significant or high-profile fraud cases that could result in substantial risk or loss to the organization.
  • Review daily alerts on a weekly basis to verify timely completion, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Manage the fraud inbox to ensure that inquiries are addressed within the department's service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Assist in completing fraud alerts when necessary.
  • Lead or participate in special projects within the FPI unit.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in fraud investigation and SAR filing in banking.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team.
  • Solid understanding of fraud investigation techniques, particularly in regulatory reporting and interview practices.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with confidence in handling complex issues.
  • A certification in financial fraud investigation, such as Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with various fraud detection and mitigation systems, case management tools, and banking platforms across multiple payment channels.
