Operating Room Nurse Leader

Job Summary:

As a Nurse in Charge, you will be responsible for leading a team of nurses in the Operating Room. You will work under the supervision of the Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level. Your responsibilities will include cost-effective decision-making, directing and supervising staff, determining staff assignment and scheduling, and assuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Cost effective decision-making regarding operations including utilization and application of resources.
  • Directing and supervising professional and non-professional staff.
  • Determining staff assignment and scheduling.
  • Assuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Participating in the development of patient care standards and delivery of care processes.
  • Facilitating and participating in staff development, including orientation and training.
  • Participating in performance evaluation and management including verbal coaching and counseling.
  • Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the quality improvement and safety plan.
  • Maintaining a clinical environment that demonstrates service excellence.
  • Functioning as a professional role model and resource person.

Requirements:
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing required.
  • Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Department specific specialty certification required within six months of start of position.
  • At least 3 year of nursing experience in a Operating room setting.
