Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Automation Controls Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and installing machine controls for assigned manufacturing machinery and equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing, developing, and installing machine controls for assigned manufacturing machinery and equipment
- Serving as an automation technical resource for continuous improvement and capital projects efforts
- Identifying and initiating improvement projects that help meet site goals
- Providing PLC and drive support for plant equipment
- Developing electrical design, schematics, and drawings using AutoCAD
- Documenting electrical modifications made to equipment
- Interpreting mechanical design drawings for electrical requirements
- Reviewing, repairing, and redesigning legacy code
- Troubleshooting issues with existing installed systems
- Preparing plans of corrective action for equipment identified as potential to fail
- Preparing cost justifications for projects
- Supporting and maintaining a culture of continuous improvement, quality, high performance, and process excellence
- Remaining familiar with new equipment and assisting in training other technicians
- Ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures
Qualifications
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Automation Controls Specialist with at least 3 years of experience in the following areas:
- Debugging and testing electro-mechanical systems and controls
- Configuring HMIs for discrete manufacturing equipment
- Programming and commissioning motion control systems, including multi-axis robots and servos
- Programming PLC-based controls for manufacturing
- Industrial automation with electro-mechanical and controls work
- Machine vision applications a plus
The successful candidate must be able to organize work, prioritize tasks, maintain multiple projects, and meet established deadlines. They must also have strong working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
