The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be an integral part of a progressive software team dedicated to enhancing the UI Tax system through Agile practices. This position requires providing technical guidance in AWS cloud infrastructure, improving application efficiency, and deploying innovative cloud solutions to elevate service delivery and ensure the agency's technology remains cutting-edge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the implementation and operationalization of AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Serve as a developer advocate for cloud capabilities, collaborating across various teams to design and establish user-friendly hybrid cloud environments.
  • Architect, develop, and sustain efficient, reusable, and reliable AWS infrastructure utilizing AWS CDK.
  • Oversee and configure AWS services including EC2, EKS, ECR, Cognito, Lambda, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and more.
  • Design and maintain service mesh solutions like Istio within EKS clusters.
  • Develop unit and integration tests to ensure Infrastructure as Code (IaC) test coverage.
  • Establish and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment of infrastructure and applications.
  • Gather telemetry data and create dashboards, alerts, and notifications for comprehensive insights into cloud operations and application performance.
  • Monitor and resolve performance issues, ensuring high availability and optimal functioning of infrastructure and services.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to enhance application performance and reliability within AWS environments.
  • Implement and uphold security best practices and compliance measures in AWS.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8 years of experience with various AWS services such as EKS, ECR, S3, Lambda, and service mesh technologies like Istio, ensuring adequate test coverage.
  • 8 years of hands-on experience with IaC tools such as Terraform or AWS CDK.
  • 5 years of familiarity with AWS Well-Architected Frameworks.
  • 8 years of experience in scripting languages including Typescript or Python.
  • 8 years of experience building pipelines using CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
  • 8 years of understanding networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, SSL/TLS, etc.).
  • Strong grasp of security best practices in AWS environments.
  • 8 years of experience with configuration management and orchestration tools to ensure cloud environments meet operational and security standards.
  • 8 years of solid networking experience, including knowledge of AWS networking services (e.g., VPC, Subnets, Route 53).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
  • 8 years of experience working within Agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience in AWS CDK development.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, and Dynatrace.
  • Capability to create quick proofs of concept to showcase cloud capabilities and design user-friendly hybrid cloud environments.
