Position Overview:

The Superintendent plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning, execution, and coordination of commercial and industrial construction projects. This position ensures that projects are completed on schedule, within financial constraints, and in alignment with design specifications.


Key Responsibilities:

The Superintendent is integral to project teams, managing interactions with various trades and subcontractors. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring productivity and adherence to contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintaining consistent communication with the design team, Project Manager, clients, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with plans and timelines.
  • Providing estimating support and identifying design inefficiencies to mitigate potential budget overruns.
  • Monitoring safety protocols, identifying hazards, and implementing necessary corrective measures.

Work Schedule:

The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with a requirement to work additional hours, including weekends, to accommodate project demands and emergencies. Most projects are situated within a reasonable distance from the main office.


Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven experience managing commercial construction projects valued at $5 million or more.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A solid understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • The ability to interpret and implement construction documents effectively.
  • Proficiency in calculating material quantities accurately for construction tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on client relations and confidentiality.
  • Strong leadership abilities to supervise both employees and subcontractors effectively.
  • Competence in using software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, P6 Scheduling, Bluebeam, and Procore.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
