Position Overview

The 3W Cardiac Stepdown Unit at Riley Hospital is a specialized 24-bed facility, featuring 6 designated NICU beds. Recognized nationally for excellence in pediatric cardiovascular care, our program is consistently ranked among the top by reputable sources.

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the assessment, monitoring, and documentation of high-acuity cardiac patients across a wide age range, from neonates to adults. This includes managing patients with Congenital Heart Defects, those in the NICU cohort, as well as Pre/Post-Cardiac Transplant and Cardiothoracic Surgery patients. We are looking for experienced nursing professionals.

  • Comprehensive training for patients of all ages, from neonates to adults.
  • Expertise in managing ventricular assist devices, post-cardiac transplant care, chest tubes, pacer wires, cardiac monitoring, and central lines.
  • Education for caregivers through our parent care initiative.

Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or a valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is necessary.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the AHA is required.
  • Additional advanced Life Support certifications may be mandated based on unit specialty and patient care protocols.
