Summer Law Clerk Program with AFSCME

AFSCME, one of the largest and most diverse unions in the country, is seeking highly motivated law students for its Summer Law Clerk Program. As a summer clerk, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel, providing in-house legal representation to AFSCME International and its affiliates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in initiating and defending litigation before state and federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court, and administrative agencies.
  • Provide non-litigation counsel on diverse matters such as organizing campaigns, legislative and policy advocacy, campaign finance and political law, pensions and employee benefits, and internal union governance.
  • Work on constitutional law matters, including First Amendment issues.
