Position Overview

This role is accountable for overseeing the underwriting, origination, compliance, procedural documentation, and training related to retail deposit products and consumer loans. Acts as the subject matter expert for the retail team concerning the core banking system. Identifies and initiates enhancements to processes and procedures to eliminate barriers for the retail team. Ensures that all documentation is thorough, precise, timely, and adheres to all regulatory requirements. This position will also address any issues that may arise from the daily operations of retail banking programs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provides administrative assistance to the Director of Retail, ensuring compliance with all regulations, bank policies, and procedures while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction in line with our Culture of CARE.
  2. Collaborates with key stakeholders to coordinate and manage various programs, including:
    1. Core System Platforms (Teller, Deposit, Deposit Origination)
    2. Online Lending Solutions
    3. BSA Program and Monitoring Software
    4. New Account Fraud Monitoring Software
  3. Enhances systems by recommending and reviewing enhancement requests from frontline staff, engaging with user groups, and collaborating with software support; tests software upgrades for functionality and identifies issues.
  4. Assists IT and Operations Teams as a business subject matter expert for deposit origination, teller, and consumer lending platforms, focusing on process improvements and efficiencies.
  5. Handles the origination and underwriting of consumer loans.
  6. Provides frontline customer sales and service, serving as backup for branch personnel as necessary.
  7. Evaluates missing documentation for branch operations, conducts retail audit checklists, and follows up with retail employees to ensure task completion.
  8. Develops and updates processes and procedures for consumer loans, new accounts, and teller operations.
  9. Trains bank associates in the origination, processing, underwriting, and closing of consumer loans.
  10. Identifies and implements process improvements in the daily operations of the retail banking team and other business lines as required.
  11. Assists the Director of Retail in managing and overseeing the retail banking team.

Software and Technology Proficiency

Demonstrates strong proficiency in MS Office products and effectively utilizes State Bank Financial operating systems. Operates various office equipment, including computers, printers, calculators, fax/scanner/copy machines, and multi-line telephones.

Education and Experience Requirements

An associate or bachelor's degree is preferred. Previous experience in banking, lending, and customer service is required.

  2. Must be eligible for bonding to obtain Notary certification and NMLS certification.

Working Environment

Work is primarily conducted in an office setting during standard business hours. The role involves deadline pressures and requires regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage and reading complex compliance information. The position may involve alternating between walking, sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds of office supplies and documents throughout the work shift.
