Position Overview The University of Kentucky is seeking a dedicated and empathetic Child Life Specialist to enhance the support provided to our young patients and their families.

As part of a leading healthcare institution, you will engage in comprehensive assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of psychosocial needs for children from neonatal stages up to 17 years old.

Your role will be crucial in addressing the emotional, developmental, and psychosocial challenges faced by children and adolescents during medical experiences, aiming to reduce stress and anxiety.

Professional Development This position requires the completion of a child life internship under the guidance of a certified Child Life Specialist, as stipulated by the ACLP. Certification must be achieved within one year of employment.

We are looking for candidates who are committed to ongoing professional growth and are enthusiastic about staying updated with advancements in the field, thereby enhancing the quality of our Child Life Services.

Compensation The starting pay for this position is set at $21.72 per hour, with adjustments based on the candidate's experience.

Desired Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will possess experience in working with children and families in challenging situations, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of child life assessment and development theories.

Educational Background A Bachelor's degree in child life, child development, or a related health field with a focus on child life is preferred. Completion of a child life internship is required by the start date.
