Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Specialist I to join our team at Fairfax County Government. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for providing financial support and guidance to various departments and programs. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, as well as providing financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Preparing and processing financial reports and statements
  • Coordinating and managing financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Providing financial analysis and support to departmental managers and staff
  • Developing and implementing financial policies and procedures
  • Ensuring compliance with financial regulations and laws
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
  • At least 4 years of experience in financial operations, preferably in a government or public sector setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications would be beneficial:

  • Experience with financial software and systems, such as SAP or similar enterprise-wide systems
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and laws, including GAAP and FASB
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
Working Conditions

This role will be based in Fairfax County, Virginia, and will require occasional travel to other locations. The successful candidate will be required to work in a team environment and will be expected to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
