This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the State of North Carolina as a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician II. In this role, you will be responsible for performing skilled repairs and maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems, including small engines, automotive, and heavy equipment.
As a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Technician II, you will work independently and as part of a team to diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues, using advanced diagnostic instruments and software. You will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, such as inspections and service work.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of mechanical systems and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will also need to be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors, and be able to work safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Perform skilled repairs and maintenance on a variety of mechanical systems, including small engines, automotive, and heavy equipment.
Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues using advanced diagnostic instruments and software.
Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as inspections and service work.
Work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks and projects.
Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of experience in the area of assignment, or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned.
Current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to work in an indoor and outdoor environment, and to safely operate equipment for testing purposes. The selected candidate must be able to legally operate CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date.

Salary Information
All recommended salaries are based on each applicant's qualifying education and related experience in combination with the position's budgeted salary. The maximum hiring rate for this position is $57,177.
