Assistant Public Defender

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Public Defender to join our team in the State of North Carolina. As a key member of our Indigent Defense Services, you will play a vital role in representing individuals charged with criminal offenses in District and Superior Court.

The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and an active license to practice law in North Carolina. Strong communication, writing, and interviewing skills are essential for success in this position. You will be responsible for advocating for clients' rights and interests, conducting legal research, and developing defense strategies.

• Represent clients in District and Superior Court, advocating for their rights and interests.
• Conduct legal research and develop defense strategies to achieve desired results.
• Collaborate with other legal professionals, including colleagues within the public defender's office, investigators, and support staff.
• Handle administrative tasks related to caseload management, document preparation, and other responsibilities within the public defender's office.
• Maintain open and effective communication with clients to keep them informed about their cases and address their concerns.

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school.
